In the Valley of the Moon: Poetry from the Infinite Night
Civilization in the age of platform capitalism demands visibility, transparency, and confession. The logic of identity, the politics of representation, the cult of information: queer life in the metropole, ensnared in the algorithmic positivism of a day without end. But what resists capture by the light of the screen? This talk explores moonlight poetry from the ancient Greeks to Wojnarowicz to find queer hymns of irreducible secrecy and negative theologies of night. An archive of impossible desire, it turns to the insomnia of poets to find myths carved from beauty’s revolt against technocratic reason. To find the wild, flee by the light of the moon. Put another way, come listen to a gay girl talk about the moon and her feelings about the moon, and then everybody talks about the moon together.

Cutting The Tendrils
The questions of attack are numerous, but the answers never take root; an insurrectionary-nihilist talk steeped in a rich history that targets domination and points to current attempts to draw daggers with the existent so that we can dream about aiming at the tendrils of civilization.

A Creature Unlike Any Other: profaning sex-as-sacred
What would be more queer than the profanation of sex? Yet, still, sexuality remains consecrated as sacred with its pretense of libidinal desire and stale ritual of romance. Queer has not only failed to subvert it but has already easily integrated into the apparatus of sexuality; the consequence of our failure is our complicit perpetuation of the sacred and its inevitable limitations to our forms of life. A few paradigms offer us a taste of the possibility of the profane, including asexuality, free use, consensual non-consent, and public sex. These should not become our aspirations; instead, each offers us insight into how the world, as it has been woven, might be undone. As the seams of the sacred become untethered, I hope we might come to see sex as a profane gesture enabling the joyous free play of forms of life.

Drag Queens in the Holy War
An editor of bædan will offer an interpretation of a picket sign held by a uniformed Proud Boy at a recent protest of Drag Queen Story Hour in Queens, NY, which read: “Baphomet is a Satanic “god”; Baphomet is transgender” – We will unpack each term ( Baphomet, Satanic, “god,” transgender) with an eye toward the stakes in the current moral panic and the long continuity of joyous revolt against fascism. Discuss the occult currents of past millennia, anarchist approaches to animism, and the struggle against Hollywood Dystopia in the Weelaunee forest. We’ll receive help from the beloved dead, including Chris Chitty, Claude Cahun, the Acéphale cultists (with particular attention to Pierre Klossowski), the Fourierist and Faery traditions, the Wildfrei who waged eternal war on the Hitler Youth, and the secret society of faggot-poets who came closest to assassinate Hitler himself.
