A fear underlies that if this force of misogyny realized the forces against it
it would turn even more sinister, more realized of itself, as gender imposing violence, of its position in this battling of energies.
Realized, the forces against it would face a conscious gender imposing violence. A fear that the force may attempt to snuff a flame that burns so brightly, or to control the flame.

If we name a tendency, how do we make that tendency spread like fire? How can we make that tendency escape the dead-ends of liberal identity politics and/or academia and/or activism? How will we find commonality with forms-of-life that bash back? How can we make this world explode?
Is our violence of substance or of image? Are we joking when we write about violence?
What is meant by that picture of beautiful people holding baseball bats and sledge hammers? Is this symbolism? Is it real? Does it mean anything to bash back?

We once again approach June 11th, a day of remembrance and active solidarity, in a world of multiple crises and struggles for liberation. All of these are interconnected; there are no separate worlds. Across borders, languages, contexts, and identities, both catastrophes and victories of spirit and defiance reverberate around the globe. One environment is not untouched by another. The personal is not separate from the political. The positive project is not separate from that of destruction. Prison is not separate from the “free world.” Means are not separate from ends. Bridging these divides is a shared curiosity and commitment; bridging these divides is solidarity. This is not to flatten or oversimplify diversity and differences in circumstance, intensity, and consequence. Rather, that these different pieces are held together like organs of the body held by connective tissue. So we consider: how do we strengthen this connective tissue? How do we remain strong, yet supple and flexible? Bridges, connection, must also be built through time, especially in a world that moves too fast, from one crisis to the next. June 11th aspires to be one of these bridges: to build solidarity across borders, between movements, and among generations. Remembering and supporting long-term prisoners, as well as carrying on shared struggles, are two ways to strengthen this connective tissue. A stronger connective tissue will, in turn, bolster us against further repression.
Let’s strive to deepen the political horizons of this moment as much as the tactics.
The arrival of the “student intifada” on the political scene has captured the news cycle, inspired a lot of us, and—as these things often do—given a lot of people a rude awakening as to what the police are really all about. However…people have been “radicalized” before, yet the forces against which they fought remain dominant as ever generations later. What would it take to for us to learn from and build upon the liberation struggles of the past without merely reenacting them?
Introduction
On April 27, 2024 during the Northeast Regional Bash Back! Convergence, anarchists with an affinity for Muay Thai held an explicitly anarchist Muay Thai smoker (unsanctioned Muay Thai fight). This smoker was however organized as explicitly separate from Bash Back!
The idea to have an anarchist smoker in Philadelphia has been floating around for at least a few years now. A project that recently went semi-public in the city, Balagoon Boxing club (https://phlanticap.noblogs.org/balagoon-boxing-club-zine/), has interacted with other Muay Thai projects in the U.S. ,Canada, and Mexico which inspired some to host a smoker and get U.S A-team fight culture off the ground. Balagoon Boxing Club was in part galvanized as a counter to the rise of fascist fight culture, and for one thing knew we could put their shitty little smokers to shame…so we did. With people ostensibly coming from out of town to Philly for the BB! Convergence, we put the word out amongst our networks that there would be a smoker that weekend.
Most of what comes out in the text “Addicted to Losing” is not new. Black anarchists and anti-authoritarians have been critiquing black non-profits, Black academics, Black activists and black authoritarians for years before the 2020 uprising. Black anarchists who have been active PRIOR to 2020 have been deeply aware of these critiques, mainly based on their experiences. We are unsure how connected the author is to Black anti-authoritarians but, best believe Black anarchists been having these conversations. There has been so much talk over the past four years about Black counter insurgency. It is important to recognize that Black revolutionaries have been theorizing about these formations long before it became popular or deemed important to do in the anarchist scene. We think it’s also important to recognize that most Black anarchists have been too busy doing anarchy to write articles on the cracker anarchist-baiting websites. We’ve included two critiques of the Black Counter-Insurgency written by Black revolutionaries prior to 2020. We don’t agree with everything in the texts; however, we think it is important to acknowledge that there is a history of Black radicals making our own critiques separate from the white, ill will editions and crimethinc milieus who continue to trail us politically.
